Internal Structure of Romero House

Our Board of Directors meets once a month. The current board members are:

Our accountant and yearly auditor is Mr. Michael Dunphy B.A, C.G.A.

An Executive Advisory Committee has been developed to provide assistance and lend their expertise to Romero House on issues of a legal financial and business nature. The current members of this committee are:

  1. Jardine Janes-Businessman

  2. Fred Vautour-Contractor/Mason

  3.  Michael Dunphy B.A, C.G.A.

Romero House also employees 6 full-time staff to facilitate a smooth operation and coordinate the various phases of service.

Our volunteers are an integral part of our organization and without them we would not be able to fulfill our mission of providing our community with a much needed service. Volunteers participate in all aspects of service provided by Romero House.

As Romero House has expanded and additional services added, the role of the volunteer has also expanded. Many of the areas of interest of our volunteers therefore have been and continue to be accommodated.

Born and raised in Saint John, the 7th in a family of 10 children. Married with 7 children and 15 grandchildren. Carolyn has spent the last 26 years in Lay Ministry to the low income and disadvantaged members of the Saint John community. In 1982 she founded Romero House Soup Kitchen and is presently the Executive Director.

Through her work with Romero House, Carolyn has received several awards including the 125th Commemorative Medal of Canada, the 1992 Peace Medal, the Paul Harris Fellowship and, most recently, an Honourary Doctorate of letters from U.N.B.S.J.

Support for Romero House can be in many forms. If you live locally, you can offer support in the form of volunteering your time at Romero House. If you live elsewhere or you do not have the time to volunteer, you can still financially support Romero House by mailing a tax deductible cheque for what you feel you can afford.
