Volunteers / ResponsibilitiesWe are very fortunate to have approximately
100 volunteers who work seven different crews along with six full-time staff to
facilitate a smooth operation. Our volunteers come from all walks of life
and their dedication is a tribute to their faith and belief that everyone in our
community deserves the most basic of services, food, clothing and shelter. Some of our volunteers have been with
Romero House since it began in 1982. We have four volunteers who work 10 hours a
week to supplement their assistance and volunteer for the remainder of the time.
Other volunteers serve anywhere between a few hours to several days per week. On
the weekends we have the Knights of Columbus men who have a commitment to look
after Saturday’s. They have formed Teams to this end. On Sundays the Team has
been going since we began. There have been some changes through sickness etc.
but the Team is mostly the same people year after year Also on the weekends the
meals are kept simple for the benefit of these weekend Relief Teams. For that is
how we the regular staff see it. It gives us the weekend to be restored and get
away from it all so we can come back fresh on Monday mornings, and for that we
are very grateful. |
